Delicate Arch at Arches National Park in Moab, Utah

Just to the north of Moab in southeastern Utah is one of the finest areas in the country for exploring parks. In this area is several national and state parks as well as BLM areas that would take you easily a month to explore properly. One of these is Arches National Park which is known for its large sandstone natural arch formations. One of the trademark arches there is Delicate Arch shown below. This arch is located at the end of a 1/2 mile hike at the top of a beautiful bowl-shaped hilltop with the LaSal Mountains in the background.

On any given day during sunset, expect at least a dozen or so photographers hanging around for the good light of golden hour. When I visited, I found the exchange between tourists and photographers to be quite amusing as the tourists aimed to occupy and photograph the very arch that photographers were attempting to photograph from afar and as the light changed and sweetened throughout the afternoon/evening, the verbal exchange between the two groups intensified. Definitely worth the trip just for the entertainment value.
